Respiratory diseases in cattle, including AIP, pique veterinarian’s curiosity

Dr. Emily Snyder’s curiosity over the years has led her to a place where improving the health of beef cattle is of utmost importance. One of Snyder’s current research projects involves feedlot cattle at USask’s Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence, south of Clavet. She is looking at a different respiratory disease called atypical interstitial pneumonia (AIP) that causes inflammation in the lining of the lungs. Little is known about the cause of the disease in feedlot cattle while treatments are limited and not effective.
