Canadian Angus Association National Convention Virtual AGM
2020 has been a challenge for our entire industry as we look at ways to navigate this new landscape. Traditionally our Annual General Meeting would take place at Convention, and while we will not have the opportunity to enjoy everything the Maritimes have to offer this year, we look forward to getting back to New Brunswick in 2022. We felt it was important that we continue with plans to hold our AGM and engage with our membership in a new format for 2020.
We will take this time to turn a challenge into an opportunity - an opportunity to improve on how we have held our AGM in the past and to create more engagement and awareness for our membership of CAA activity. We hope that we can take this opportunity to create new ideas on how we can better present this in the future.
With that we look forward to announcing the platform for the 2020 Canadian Angus Association AGM, which will take place on Thursday June 11th at 7 pm MST via a 1 to 1 ½ hour webinar.
Headlining the AGM will be the release of the 2019 Financial Results. I look forward to outlining various elements of our financial picture, key elements of the strategic plan, main highlights of 2019 and key initiatives we will be working on in 2020.
Due to the format of 2020, there will be no voting that will take place as we will focus on the sharing of information. There will be an opportunity for members to ask questions directed through our online platform and to be read by our moderator who will be receiving the questions during the webinar. We will release the 2019 Annual Report following our board meeting held on May 28th in order to provide membership ample time to review and decide on any questions they would like to put forward.
Also included in the webinar will be the announcement and introduction of the 2020 Canadian Angus Association board members and new executive, along with other recognitions. The Canadian Angus Foundation will also collaborate with us on this event and will highlight their 2019 campaign.
We are also excited to have a keynote speaker that will close our online AGM: J.P. Gervais, Chief Economist for Farm Credit Canada, will provide an update on the economic outlook of the beef cattle industry. We feel this expert outlook will be extremely timely with a lot of uncertainty in the world today.
We look forward to the opportunity for you to sit back from the comfort of your home on the 11th of June and join us for the 2020 Canadian Angus Association AGM.
See you then,
Canadian Angus Association
