Kee Jim was born and raised on a small seedstock/commercial cow-calf operation located in the Interior of British Columbia. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) in 1983 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Following graduation, he moved to Okotoks, Alberta and established G.K. Jim Farms and the consulting company Feedlot Health Management Services Ltd.
Kee’s cattle feeding began with the purchase of six percent of a share pen of 300 head which was financed at 90 percent representing a net equity of two head. Over the next four decades, G.K. Farms has become a major player in the Canadian and United States cattle industries through ownership of backgrounding cattle, grass cattle, feedlot cattle and feedlots.
