Plan ahead for your end-of-year DNA and genomic testing needs!
To receive results before Christmas, samples need to be received at the lab by December 1. To receive results the first week of January, samples need to be received the lab by December 12. If a sample requires reprocessing, the results will be pushed back.

Be proactive and order Angus tags now
If you need custom tags for the fall or next year’s calving season, consider ordering them now! You could wait more than 4 weeks for blank tags and more than 4 months for custom tags.
Angus RFID buttons are sold exclusively through CCIA; call 1-877-909-2333 to purchase. For more information on the Angus tag program, visit www.cdnangus.ca/adding-value/canadian-angus-indicator-program
Member Service Tips
Please remember, when naming animals, your herd name must be at the beginning of the animal name. The only exception is if the animal is red, in which case the animal name will be RED followed by your herd name. You CANNOT put another member’s herd name in your animal’s name.
For more information on registering your animals, visit www.cdnangus.ca/how-to-complete-the-herd-inventory-application-for-registration
You can tell the parentage status of your animal through the online herdbook. Parentage status is listed under Parentage on your animal, which can be found 5 lines up from the EPDs. Find your animal online here and see if your animal’s have parentage completed.
You can now enter RFIDs on AngusNOW. We’ve pre-populated the first 6 digits, so you only have to enter the last 9 digits.
AngusNOW is our online registration system. Please review the AngusNOW instructions or contact our member service team [email protected] with questions and to sign up.
Visit our DNA page for information on DNA testing including instructions on collecting samples.
Have a DNA sample for your animal, but don’t have room to store it? We have a solution for you! Collect the sample, request a “For Storage” test from us, and we’ll send you the DNA paperwork to send with your sample to the lab, and the lab will store your sample for you. The “For Storage” request is free. The lab will store your sample for you until it’s needed for testing. At that time, we’ll set up the required DNA test and charge you a $5/sample pull fee.
