Attending Agribition? Drop off DNA Samples and Pick up Hair Cards or TSUs

CAA members attending Agribition can drop off their properly labelled and packaged DNA samples with a CAA staff member or Saskatchewan Angus Association representative at the Saskatchewan Angus Association booth. Samples must be handed to a staff member at the booth; no drop box is available. Members who have other paperwork or items to send to the CAA office can also leave those items with staff. CAA will not be liable for any samples or paperwork left if the booth is unattended.

Final Chance for 2026 ACE Enrollment

December 1 is the enrollment deadline for ACE 2026. The voluntary ACE program gives breeders the option to pay an annual fee of $65/cow enrolled to gain access to a full suite of member services provided at no extra cost. If you wish to participate in the ACE program in 2025, your completed female exposure and disposal sheets must be received at the Canadian Angus Association office by December 1 along with your completed ACE enrollment form.

Female Exposure Worksheets were sent on September 1. If you did not receive yours, please call 1-888-571-3580 or email registry@cdnangus.ca. These worksheets are used to keep track of all females that were exposed to bulls either through natural breeding or artificial insemination and the dates of their exposures. Female exposure worksheets are your opportunity to ensure all females that are not active in your purebred herd are disposed of. This is extremely important for members on the ACE program as ACE enrollment fees are assessed based on active cows in your herd inventory.

Female exposure and disposal data is also used to calculate EPDs for traits like Stayability and Heifer Pregnancy (HPG). These traits are of economic importance so please take the time to submit this data. In addition, submitting your exposure information makes things easier at registration time, as the potential sires of your calves are already recorded for you.

Whether or not you choose to enroll in the ACE program, please ensure your 2026 female inventory on AngusNOW and your Canadian Angus Calving Book App is accurate by completing your 2025 Female Exposure and Disposal Worksheet by December 15, 2025.

Please submit your missing performance information ASAP

Missing Herd Inventory worksheets and Missing Weaning Weight worksheets have been generated and can be found on AngusNOW (click on Reports-Association Reports-MISSING Inventory/Weaning Weight worksheets). Alternatively, click on Inventory, Weaning Weights, and check your Incomplete tab.

Please submit your missing 2024 / 2025 Weaning Weight information in order to remain compliant on the Performance Program and receive your weaning weight reports.

Please submit your cow disposal and cow status codes by December 1^st so that your 2026 Herd Inventories are accurate.

Invitation to Participate in our Canadian Angus Association ‘Phenomics’ Project

We have an ongoing project to support members collecting information on subject traits, health traits, and carcass quality traits. If you are interested in having a trained classifier measure and record mature cow traits (mature cow weight, height, body condition score, docility, claw set and foot angle) please contact us at klatimer@cdnangus.ca or 403-537-5604. Mature cow traits must be collected within 45 days (+/-) of taking weaning weights on their calves. This service is provided at no cost to you in part by funding from Agriculture and Agrifood Canada and Sustainable CAP.

Outstanding Balances

As our year end approaches, please contact the office by email or at 1-888-571-3580 to clear any outstanding balances on your account by credit card, send an e-transfer, or make payments through AngusNOW. We encourage all members to pay their outstanding balances by the end of the year.

If you are updating your credit card information, please ensure that you also let us know if the credit card is to be used for multiple accounts, such as parents, children, and linked herds to avoid late charges resulting from missed updates.

2025 Holiday Closure

Be sure to plan ahead and allow sufficient time for parentage verification, Angus HD and other genomic test results to be received.

The Canadian Angus Foundation is awarding two scholarships totalling $5,000 to Arlis Hanson of Val Marie, Saskatchewan, who placed first and receives $3,000 and Emma Thomason of Central Butte, Saskatchewan, who placed second and receives $2,000.

Maritime Junior Angus
GOAL Travel Bursary Application

To be considered for the 2026 Maritime Junior Angus Association Travel Bursary of $750, applicants must complete and return this application by January 1st, 2026.

Applicant Qualifications:
1) Applicants must be members of the Canadian Junior Angus Association residing in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or PEI.
2) Applicants must be at least 15 years old, or be accompanied by a chaperone.
3) The funds must be used for the 2026 GOAL Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba scheduled for February 14th-16th and the applicant must provide receipts to be reimbursed.
4) If awarded, the applicant is responsible for booking their own flights to and from GOAL.
5) All applications must be typed.
6) Applications must be submitted to maritimeangus@gmail.com with the subject “MJAA GOAL Travel Bursary”
7) Applicants will be notified with the result of their application by January 15th, 2026.
