SPAM EMAIL HARVESTERS, THE CAA WEBSITE, AND YOU!

   You may or may not be aware that there is a huge problem on the Internet called SPAM. SPAM shows up in your email inbox as unwanted and unrequested junk email. In order for the SPAMMER people to send this junk email to you, they require your email address. A very common way for them to get your email address is to use computers to "harvest" or copy it off of websites just like ours. Our site has over 100 of our staff, directors, and industry emails listed on it. That is a lot of opportunities for these so-called "Spam Email Harvesters" to  get emails and then start blasting these junk emails. For example, the CAA gets over 10,000 of these spam emails EVERY DAY!

   Unfortunately, very little has been done at the political level to legislate and outlaw this intrusion. Fortunately, recent technology has offered us a solution, which basically blocks the actual email address from the spamming computer by placing a gate in front of them. Essentially it is a Viewing Puzzle. The spam computerized email harvesters are not sophisticated enough to "read" text like a human can. Therefore, to block them from harvesting information from the CAA site we have a small challenge window that pops up when you attempt to send us an email from the website.

INSTRUCTIONS — HOW TO SEND AN EMAIL

Step 1. Click on the email link.

Step 2. A small window will open up and ask you to type in the two words that are showing. Do this, leaving a space between the words. Sometimes these words are hard to read and if you can't make them out, you will notice that on the right side of the space where you type the words are three symbols. Click on the top symbol if you want a new set of words. The middle symbol provides you with an audio clue (but we don't recommend this as it is quite hard). Clicking on the third or bottom symbol  opens up a new window with more help options.

Step 3. Click on the grey box that says "Reveal Email Address", and—if you entered the two words correctly—you will see the email address you are trying to send to.

Step 4. Simply click on this email address and your email program should start up as before.

INSTRUCTIONS — HOW TO FILL OUT & SEND A FORM

Sending in an online form is somewhat easier than the email. You simply have to answer a basic question at the end of the form to show that you are "human". Example - "What color is the sky on a clear day?" Of course the answer is blue. So that's what  you would type in as the answer. The rest of the form functions as it did before.

   Thank you for your patience in regards to this matter. We realize that this process is somewhat inconvenient, but we would not take these steps if we didn't feel they were necessary.
