Program
Free Angus Tags for Albertans:
Alberta Age Verification Incentive Program Year 2
The Government of Alberta’s Age Verification Incentive Program
moved into the second year on January 1, 2011. The program gives
producers one free RFID tag for each animal they age verified in
2010. For example:
-
Bob is placing an order of 150 Angus RFID tags.
-
Bob had 140 calves born in 2010 that have been age verified.
Also, last year Bob only bought 100 tags but he had 110 age
verified calves born in 2009. Last year he could only apply
for reimbursement on the 100 tags, and therefore had 10
calves not eligible under the program.
-
Bob will get all 150 RFID tags ordered this year at no
charge. He can count the 140 calves born in 2010 as well as
the 10 unclaimed calves from the previous year.
Producers are still required to pay the GST and shipping charges
on all tags. Every eligible producer who submits an order to the
Angus office will receive notification that they are eligible to
apply under the program. The application form will be faxed or
emailed to you as it requires a signature and then must be
returned to the Angus office before the discount can be applied.
Anyone who applied last year is eligible again in 2011 and will
be eligible again in 2012 as this is a three-year program. For
further information or to apply contact Cheryl
by email or by calling (403) 571-3580 (1-888-571-3580) ext
238.
