Revised Fee Schedule as of June 30
Electronic Registration Savings End Soon Registrations received electronically by July 15 for spring 2010 born calves will be priced at $15 per calf regardless of the age. To be set up as an electronic user if you haven’t already done so, please complete CAAFORM21–Electronic Registration Agreement. Canadian Angus Performance Program Deadlines We are looking forward to the fall National Cattle Evaluation results which are expected mid-July. Members who have not yet submitted their 2009 performance data will not receive new EPDs. If you think that you are missing data for 2009 please contact the office for a missing data worksheet and submit your 2009 data as soon as possible. There is a $100 fee to be reinstated on the program if you have been removed for non-compliance. Performance herds should have their completed 2010 herd inventories returned to the office by July 15 to ensure we have enough time to process 205 day worksheets. Please contact Kajal Devani have any questions or would like more information about the program. Geneprob Analysis Free Until June 30 You have until June 30, 2010 to get your Geneprob herd analysis report free of charge. Geneprob reports identify the probability of your animals carrying the genes for AM, NH, OS and MA. Click here for more information on Geneprob reports.
Genetic
Defect Policy The Registry Department will send out an RFI (Request for Information) sheet on a calf that has a carrier within the first two generations. Please follow up with us to request a DNA kit for the genetic defect or to let us know if you do not wish to register the animal. A genetic defect test kit is $26 per defect. Testing is done using a hair sample through MMI Genomics Laboratory in the United States. Members of the Canadian Angus Association are required to report abnormalities in their herds. Click here for instructions on reporting calf abnormalities.

The Age Verification Incentive Program will provide a discount of up to $3 per age-verified animal, based on the number of animals a beef producer has, or plans to have, age verified from the previous year's calf crop. For anyone who has already purchased their tags this year, the government will reimburse them directly; a separate Producer Application form is required. Alberta producers will be required to fill out and sign a program form and mail or fax it along with an Angus tag order form to the Association office. Forms will be available on our website starting June 30. For further information, contact Cheryl (1-888-571-3580) or Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development (310-FARM [3276]).

Do you operate a small-scale farm? Have your say! The Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council is researching the labour needs on farms with less than $100,000 in gross receipts. Applications Management Consulting has been contracted by the Council to conduct this research. This project is a follow-up to the work CAHRC completed in 2009 about recruitment and retention on larger farms. Your responses will be used to better understand employment needs of smaller farms and will ensure that operations across Canada are represented in the research. Go to www.cahrc-ccrha.ca or call CAHRC at 1-866-430-7457 ext. 228 to complete the survey by phone. All respondents can enter for a chance to win $100. The Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council (CAHRC) was created to address human resource issues facing agricultural businesses across Canada. CAHRC works with industry leaders, governments, and education stakeholders to research, develop and communicate solutions to the challenges in agriculture employment and skills development.
