New
Canadian Angus Association Field Staff
The Canadian Angus Association
is pleased to announce two part-time commercial fieldmen have
been hired to expand our commercial outreach. John Duivenvoorden
will be based in Ontario. Wayne Gallup will be based in Quebec.
Wayne will be offering bilingual services to Francophone and
English-speaking producers. Both men will focus their efforts on
commercial cattlemen. Initially, John and Wayne will work about
four or five days each month.
John Duivenvoorden is an Angus breeder in Innisfil, Ontario. He
was born in Holland and came to Canada when he was 6 years old
because his father believed that Canada was the greatest country
in the world for cattlemen—a sentiment that John shares. In
1966, John bought his first farm in Innisfil and started a
purebred herd and a feedlot with cross-bred calves from the
West. John served on the Canadian Angus Association Board of
Directors from 2001 through 2007. He was also a volunteer
firefighter for 18 years. Last year, John dispersed his herd and
retired. John and his wife Pat have 5 children and 8
grandchildren.
Wayne Gallup is a former Hereford breeder who has been in the
Angus business for six years. He dispersed his herd and sold the
farm, but soon began purchasing land a bit at a time. Today,
Wayne has a small herd of 23 Angus. It is mainly a show herd.
Wayne and his wife Arlene have two children who live in
Kingston.
Canadian Angus Association CEO
Doug Fee is excited about hiring two part-time commercial
fieldmen for Eastern Canada. “Wayne and John will help us
improve our visibility in Eastern Canada. They will promote the
Angus breed to commercial cattlemen and also ensure commercial
cattlemen understand the value of Angus tags.” |
